ReNewed - A History
In the 40 + years since praying over the corner and breaking ground, our physical church has seen only a few major changes. God has never ceased to be faithful in providing stewards and funds.
The Church on the Corner
In the 1980's the land that God gave was only a rural swath of undeveloped fields. As church leaders sought God's vision a plan was formed that became the First Evangelical Free Church of Overland Park. The original roughly 9,000 square foot building, containing a multi-purpose room, a few adult classrooms, nursery and church offices. It was dedicated in 1987…almost 40 years ago. In 1998, a need for additional space for children, youth and adult classes led to the first significant change to the original building. A 6,100 square foot education/preschool wing was constructed. This “new” building is nearly 27 years old. Changes outside the building occurred in 2004 with a parking lot addition and the sale of the west portion of the original land to a provider of memory care for the elderly. In 2020, the church took advantage of the weeks when the church stood primarily empty during a global pandemic to update finishes in the hallways, classrooms and restrooms. Two major building campaigns over a nearly 40-year period bring us now to the next season of ReNewing this vision on the corner of 127th and Switzer for Grace Fellowship Church.
