A Guide to Generosity
Investing in God's Kingdom
This initiative is a defining moment, challenging us to trust God with our whole lives, including our finances. We believe that by engaging in this journey, you will experience a greater understanding of God and His faithfulness.
Jesus' Teachings on Generosity
God Loves a Cheerful Giver
Jesus spoke often about money, recognizing its power to complete for our worship. He taught that "where your treasure is, there your heart is also", meaning our investments reflect what we value. He praised the poor widow who gave everything she had, emphasizing that the value of a gift is determined by its value to the giver not its size. He also taught that "to who much is given, much is required". Ultimately, "God loves a cheerful giver", encouraging us to give not reluctantly or under compulsion, but as we have decided in our hearts.
Matthew 6:19-34
Jan 11- Pastor Briggs will be exploring what these verses look like when we live them out in our own lives. Look for the attitude he lays out about money, where to invest your gifts (acts of love, service, and faithfulness), set priorities (you cannot serve two masters), and address anxiety (do not worry). We encourage you to read through this section and meditate on how it speaks to your heart.
2 Corinthians 9:6-12
Jan 18- Pastor Briggs will dive into "Kingdom economics". Paul is writing to the church in Corinth, encouraging them to follow through on a collection they promised for the suffering Christians in Jerusalem. This is one of the most famous passages on giving. He speaks on the harvest, the heart, the supply and the goal. A powerful reminder of how investing in the Kingdom is an act of praise and worship and can spill over into "many expressions of thanks to God". Please consider reading and meditating on this prior to the sermon on Sunday.
The Next Chapter of Ministry
Your Part in God's Story
We envision a church where everyone is transformed, equipped, and mobilized by Jesus on opportunity corner. Grace ReNewed initiative will be sustaining our building for years to come and offer a gathering space where the individual finds a deeper connection, having that "family" we pride ourselves on here at Grace Fellowship. We are inviting each of you to join us in this moment for our church. We believe God is calling each of us to embrace the importance of their generosity at the pivotal moment.
