Praying for our Neighborhoods
I love the initiative of the Prayer Catalysts to challenge you to pray for your neighborhoods in February. The idea is simple - at least once in the month of February, you and your family walk through your neighborhood (or drive) and pray for your neighbors. If you know something about them, pray according to what you know. If you don't know them (yet), then pray what you can easily pray for anyone - including for God to open up a door to meet them.
Then, write the names of the blocks you're praying for on the whiteboard in the sanctuary.
February is almost over ... but that doesn't mean we shouldn't take up this habit to prayerwalk our neighborhoods at least once a month. I pray this is the start of a habit, not a one-time event.
Also, check out the Bless Every Home website for tools on how to pray for and bless your neighbors: https://blesseveryhome.com/ . It can send you a daily prayer list of your immediate neighbors and map out who you've been praying for or even contacting. It leverages the BLESS acronym that we've been using:
- Begin with prayer
When you sign up, you can specify our church as your group.
Begin with prayer, and then see what the Lord has you do next!
