Passage: 1 John 3:11-24

Preacher: Dr. Colby E. Kinser

Series: Don't Forget About the Little Guys

John’s church was rocked by heresy and a group of supposed brothers and sisters in Christ departing. There were confusing messages on who Jesus is, what salvation is, and how we know. John emphatically reassures the believers of their standing before God.

Read 1 John 3:11-24. This passage is filled with several different aspects of the Christian life. Which one stands out to you, and why? What realistic difference are you asking God to bring to you in this?

With your family:

Whenever you see your child doing something for you, make the connection between love and the things we do for one another. (Reassure them that it’s important to say the words, too!)

With your small group:

  1. Discuss things you’re thankful for and things that are presently stressing you. Then pray together.
  2. Read 1 John 3:11-24 in two different translations. Then have someone summarize it in their own words.
  3. What does the passage say about God? About people? About the relationship between God and people?
  4. What questions, ideas, or concerns does the passage raise?
  5. Given this passage, what should you do this week? How can you help one another?
  6. Who in your life needs to hear something about what you just discussed?
